Fixing Mass Effect 3

Yes, you read it right.

I'm pretty sure that, if you're a Mass Effect fan, -- and if you're not, what are you doing here? -- that you have your own ideas on how to fix it. These are mine. If you disagree with them, feel free to use the comments below.

Wait! Before I begin, I must say that I really like Mass Effect 3. It's a pretty good game. The thing is, it could easily have been a great game.

Beggining from the beggining: fix the graphics. You know what I mean: the characters that misteriously disappear in the middle of a conversation; the neck-breaking head turns; characters carrying the wrong weapons in the cut scenes, and I don't just mean carrying some other weapon that isn't the one they were just using, I mean carrying a weapon they don't even have at all.

Yes, I know this happened in Mass Effect 2 too. Yes, it needs fixing too.

Moving on, am I the only one that thinks that the Grissom Academy mission is dumb? I mean, the Normandy is pretty much invisible to scanners, packs enough of a punch to destroy the Collectors big ass ship but then has to sneak around a single Cerberus cruiser? Why? Why not just sneak near it and then let it have it with the Thanix cannons? Oh, the rest of the mission is a keeper, shooting all those Cerberus troopers if fun. Especially using the Atlas!

These are minor points, the really big point is, guess what: the incredibly stupid ending.

First off: Why London? It's a nice city, don't get me wrong, I've even been there a couple of times and recomend it, but, again, why? Did the Reapers want to visit Madame Tussauds?

In fact, why Earth at all? I get it, Shepard is human, and that's where the humans come from so they're kind of picking on Shepard by forcing the final showdown on Earth. But still, why do the Reapers care about that?

The fix? Move the final showdown to the Citadel -- kind of. Please continue reading!

Yes, that's how the first game ended but the Citadel is the focal point of the galaxy. It's where everybody goes. It's where the Council is. It's also where the Reapears are going when they figure what the Catalyst is and that with it and with the Crucible we can blow them into tiny bits.

And it doesn't really matter *where* the Citadel is since the Reapers disable all the relays when they take over it. Except all the ones leading to the Sol system. Where they were also kind enough to move the Citadel to. Which is nice of them. Sure, if they were really trying to protect it, the obvious action would be to shut down *all* the relays leading to it, but who am I to contradict the super-inteligent Reapers?

Oh, right. That needs fixing too.

So. It doesn't really matter where the Citadel is, because you can't get to it.

Or can you?...

Well, what if... Remember how you got to it in the first game? Wouldn't it be far more plausible to have, say, Cerberus steal the relay in Ilos and get it working again? I mean, they've been able to control Husks at close range, use a dead baby Reaper to power a space station, build the new Normandy, rebuild Shepard, steal and activate Vendetta, build EDI (and Dr. Eva Core)... Why not steal and reactivate the Conduit?

Then, after using the Conduit to get to the Citadel, you'd have to fight your way to the control panel thingy to unlock the Mass Relays to let everybody, including the Crucible, come to the Citadel.

And then have the Reapers blow the Crucible into tiny tiny bits. (It's useless anyway)

And then move on to Plan B (Plan A was to blow up the Reapers with the Crucible, in case you're wondering).

And, what is Plan B? Well, remember how Sovereign attached itself to the Citadel? This time it would be Harbinger doing it which would allow you to... Yes, I'm going there! You'd have to go inside Harbinger!

Once inside Harbinger you'd have to fight your way to its mass effect core, and then make it go boom! Which would make all the other Reapers go bananas and make them easy targets for the Human+Asari+Salarian+Quarian+Geth fleet -- or whoever you managed to get on your side. Oh, it would also blow up the Citadel. Oh well!

And you'd see this happen, either from aboard the Normandy because Shepard would be able to get off Harbinger before it explodes. Or Shepard doesn't make it out... Either way would work, I guess.

Then, if you cured the Genophage, you'd see the Krogan rebuild their Tuchanka, or, if not, you'd see a bunch of Krogan start a fight and kill both Wrex and "Eve".

Then, if you saved both, you'd see the Quarians and the Geth rebuild Rannoch, or, if not, you'd see the ones you did save do it.

Then... well, you'd pretty much see what you'd expect depending on what your choices were.

Then, finally, the credits.

And that's it.

KTHXBAI
